The Burlington Boss Hogs wasted no time reminding the league why they’re a powerhouse, spoiling the Anchorage Commandos’ hopes for revenge with a commanding 152.8-139.8 victory. The rematch of last year’s playoff showdown was expected to be a close battle, but the Boss Hogs once again proved too much for the Commandos.

The game kicked off on Friday in Brazil, with Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley leading the charge for Burlington. The dynamic duo combined for 60.5 fantasy points, setting the tone early for the Boss Hogs’ explosive offense. Wide receiver Jayden Reed followed suit, adding an impressive 33.1 points after snagging two early touchdowns, putting the Commandos in a deep hole.

Burlington’s rookie running back De’Von Achane also lived up to the hype, contributing a solid 25.0 points in his debut. Achane’s breakout performance gives the Boss Hogs an additional weapon in what is already a stacked lineup.

Despite their strong start, the Boss Hogs suffered a tough blow when wide receiver Puka Nacua injured his knee during the game. Nacua, a key part of the Boss Hogs’ offensive plans, has been placed on IR and is expected to be out until mid-October, leaving a gap that Burlington will need to fill in the coming weeks.

For the Commandos, this loss stings, especially after last year’s heartbreaking playoff defeat to the Boss Hogs. While Anchorage boasts a solid roster for the second straight season, they simply ran into a red-hot Burlington team in Week 1. Commandos fans shouldn’t be too concerned, though, as their squad remains a strong contender in the Frontier Division. The Commandos were competitive throughout the game, but it just wasn’t enough to match Burlington’s firepower.

Looking ahead, the Boss Hogs will host the Seattle Heist in Week 2, aiming to continue their winning ways. The Commandos, meanwhile, will travel to Texas for a critical matchup against the 1-0 El Paso Red Devils. Both teams will be looking to solidify their standing in what’s shaping up to be a competitive NAFC season.
