The Commissioner’s Power Rankings: Week 7

Written by Commish

After a wild Week 6 in the NAFC, it’s time to shake up the power rankings! We’ve seen some major moves, unexpected upsets, and more than a few trades that could shift the balance of power. With division records serving as the main tiebreaker, and head-to-head matchups playing a big role, there’s plenty to unpack. Oh, and did I mention the points? We have a clear picture of who’s producing on the field and who’s falling behind.

Let’s dive in!

1. El Paso Red Devils (5-1)

  • Points For: 849.3
  • Points Against: 720.7
  • Division Record: 1-1
  • Last Week Rank: 2 (+1)

El Paso vaults to the top after a dominant win over the Wombats and the Atlantic City Aces stumbling this week. With a balanced offensive attack and a roster that includes studs like George Kittle, the Red Devils look like they’re heating up for a deep run. That only loss to Seattle is a distant memory now.

2. Atlantic City Aces (5-1)

  • Points For: 804.4
  • Points Against: 669.8
  • Division Record: 0-1
  • Last Week Rank: 1 (-1)

Aces drop from the top spot. Still, their overall numbers are stellar, and with a potent offense led by Joe Burrow, they remain a top contender. Their only real blemish is the lack of a divisional win, which could haunt them later.

3. Anchorage Commandos (3-3)

  • Points For: 817.2
  • Points Against: 763.3
  • Division Record: 1-0
  • Last Week Rank: 6 (+3)

Anchorage leaps up the rankings thanks to a big win over California and solid play all around. Despite trading away Kyler Murray and Terry McLaurin, the Commandos are finding ways to win. This team is deep. Their division record gives them the edge over Seattle and Los Angeles.

4. Seattle Heist (3-3)

  • Points For: 778.3
  • Points Against: 794.8
  • Division Record: 1-1
  • Last Week Rank: 7 (+3)

Seattle rises after a clutch win over the USMC, giving them the head-to-head tiebreaker. They’ve been inconsistent, but they’ve beaten strong teams like El Paso and Los Angeles. Their playoff hopes are alive and well if they can keep up this momentum.

5. Los Angeles USMC (4-2)

  • Points For: 749.1
  • Points Against: 738.2
  • Division Record: 2-0
  • Last Week Rank: 3 (-2)

Despite a division-leading record, Los Angeles slips a bit after a tough loss to Seattle. Lamar Jackson and Joe Mixon have been great, but inconsistency is creeping in. They’ve got a strong division record to lean on, but they’ll need to bounce back quickly. Hopefully the trade of Davante Adams and Amari Cooper help.

6. Burlington Boss Hogs (3-3)

  • Points For: 754.0
  • Points Against: 798.4
  • Division Record: 1-1
  • Last Week Rank: 4 (-2)

Burlington slides down a couple of spots after a tough loss to the winless Oilers. Inconsistency has been their downfall all season. They can beat solid teams like Anchorage but then falter against the weaker squads. They’ll need more from their QB position if they want to contend moving forward.

7. Albuquerque Roadrunners (3-3)

  • Points For: 684.0
  • Points Against: 720.4
  • Division Record: 2-0
  • Last Week Rank: 8 (+1)

The Roadrunners are quietly staying relevant thanks to their undefeated division record. Their offense isn’t exactly lighting it up, but they’re doing enough to win games. The next few weeks will be critical for Albuquerque, as their depth will be tested against tougher competition. They need CMC back!

8. Montana Wombats (3-3)

  • Points For: 733.9
  • Points Against: 754.1
  • Division Record: 0-1
  • Last Week Rank: 5 (-3)

Montana has been decent so far, with two of their three losses coming against top-tier teams—El Paso and Atlantic City. They’ve held their own and remain competitive in most matchups. With a favorable game this week against the rebuilding Austin Oilers, the Wombats are set to bounce back and improve to 4-3, keeping themselves in the playoff conversation.

9. California Rebels (2-4)

  • Points For: 724.5
  • Points Against: 723.4
  • Division Record: 0-1
  • Last Week Rank: 9 (—)

The Rebels might have made a huge splash by acquiring Terry McLaurin and Kyler Murray, but so far, they haven’t made the impact they needed. This team can score, but their defense has let them down. Look for improvement in the coming weeks, though the playoffs may be out of reach if they don’t pick it up soon.

10. Des Moines Raiders (2-4)

  • Points For: 695.4
  • Points Against: 802.7
  • Division Record: 1-1
  • Last Week Rank: 10 (—)

The Raiders pulled off a surprising win last week against the Roadrunners, but consistency remains a major issue for this team. Injuries have plagued them throughout the season, with key players like Anthony Richardson, Jonathan Taylor, and Rashee Rice missing time. Without their firepower, it’s hard to see DSM stringing together wins, leaving their playoff hopes in jeopardy.

11. Moscow Black Bears (2-4)

  • Points For: 645.9
  • Points Against: 744.7
  • Division Record: 1-1
  • Last Week Rank: 11 (—)

The Black Bears finally climbed out of the basement after their big trade for Jamar Chase and J.K. Dobbins. Moscow’s offense has been a mess, but adding those two should at least give them some life in the second half of the season. Still, the playoffs seem like a long shot.

12. Austin Oilers (1-5)

  • Points For: 747.1
  • Points Against: 752.6
  • Division Record: 0-2
  • Last Week Rank: 12 (—)

It’s hard to imagine things getting worse for the Oilers, but here we are. With Chase shipped off to Moscow and little to show for it, the future looks bleak. Maybe they’re playing for next season already, or maybe owner Ben Tidgren is hoping for a miracle. Either way, Oilers fans, it’s going to be a long, rough season.
