The 2021 NAFC Draft Lottery will look slightly different than it has in previous seasons. This year’s lottery, 2021, is going to be performed live by Commissioner Josh Peter and Assistant Commissioner Hunter Schaal, while the other members of the league will be viewing live via Zoom or Google Meet.

The idea was conceived by Assistant Commissioner Hunter Schaal under the idea of improving the NAFC and making the league as real as possible. Under this new format, the lottery selection process will be physically done, rather than through a computer algorithm. “The League will have a legit draft-lottery ping pong ball machine where each team will have certain odds at landing the #1 overall pick. This machine will then shuffle the ping pong balls and one by one, reveal the draft order.” Assistant Commissioner Hunter Schaal said regarding the new lottery format.

Commissioner Josh Peter will then announce the picks one by one in reverse order, similar to how the NHL and NBA conduct their lotteries. Revealing the picks with a live audience will generate true drama on a scale never before seen by the NAFC; with the intention of making this the #1 highlight of the NAFC Offseason. The lottery is scheduled to take place after the 2021 League Owners Meeting on Saturday, May 1.
