In a night filled with nostalgia and football history, the NAFC (North American Football Conference) Hall of Fame unveiled its inaugural class for 2023 on Saturday night, welcoming five illustrious individuals into the hallowed halls of football immortality. From owners and coaches to legendary players, this year’s inductees represent the cream of the crop in NAFC history.
From a list of fifteen esteemed candidates, the selection committee ultimately narrowed it down to the following five luminaries, each of whom left an indelible mark on the league:
1. Hunter Schaal, Owner of the California Rebels and NAFC Commissioner
- Four-time Yuma Bowl Champion.

- Two-time NAFC Coach of the Year.
- The Yuma Bowl Trophy bears his name.
Coach Nevers’ remarkable achievements on the sidelines have solidified his place as one of the greatest minds in football.
3. Quarterback Drew Brees, Various Teams
- Three-time Yuma Bowl Champion.
- Notable for a trade involving Montana and the Los Alamos Atomic Thunder.
- A career boasting 3,596.8 fantasy points.

4. Running Back Jamaal Charles, Various Teams
- Two-time Yuma Bowl Champion.

While this inaugural class is undoubtedly impressive, it’s impossible to ignore the notable omissions that have stirred debate among fans and pundits. Seattle Leathernecks Owner Nathan Simmons, whose fiery presence and outspoken nature have left a lasting impression on the league, remains outside the Hall of Fame, as does NAFC League Founder Sean Metz, whose visionary leadership birthed the league.
Additionally, the absence of star players like running back Todd Gurley and tight end Rob Gronkowski raises questions about future Hall of Fame considerations.
