Red Devils Edge Commandos in High-Scoring Desert Showdown

Written by Felix Montague

In what was billed as the matchup of the week, the Anchorage Commandos made their way to El Paso to face the Red Devils, two of the top-scoring teams from Week 1. Despite both squads putting up big numbers the previous week, it was the Red Devils who emerged victorious, taking a 127.3-116.1 win in a hard-fought battle.

Commandos QB Controversy Backfires
The Commandos made the bold decision to start rookie QB Jayden Daniels over veteran Kyler Murray. While Daniels managed 16.4 points, it was Murray’s 31.4-point performance from the bench that left Anchorage fans wondering what could have been. Despite strong production from RB Derrick Henry and Rhamondre Stevenson, both contributing over 18 points, the Commandos couldn’t overcome their quarterback gamble and key injuries.

Red Devils Rally Behind Key Contributors
El Paso entered Week 2 with concerns at quarterback as well, forced to start Caleb Williams in place of the injured Jordan Love. Williams struggled, managing just 7.4 points, but the Red Devils showed resilience. RB Kyren Williams, WR Ceedee Lamb, TE George Kittle, and RB Brian Robinson all posted 17+ points, carrying the load and sealing the victory for the Red Devils.

Commandos’ Injury Woes Continue
Now sitting at 0-2, the Commandos have major concerns heading into Week 3. Both of their star WRs, Cooper Kupp and A.J. Brown, are on the injury report, leaving the team in a precarious position as they prepare to face the 0-2 Austin Oilers in a must-win matchup.

Red Devils Eye 3-0 Start
The Red Devils look to keep their perfect season alive as they head to Seattle to take on the 1-1 Heist in Week 3. With key players stepping up despite their QB struggles, the Red Devils are proving they can find ways to win, even in challenging situations.
